March 21st BDPA Chicago Program Meeting

Captains Log: Stardate March 21, 2008, Chronicles from a die hard BDPA member

Despite a fantastic snow storm on the second day of spring and the Good Friday holiday, we had a great turn out. Over 60 brave souls attended and over half were new to BDPA and attending their first meeting. And 20 folks joined us at Blackies for drinks, our very own Black TechCocktail!

Hear what others have to say:

From my wall in Facebook:

hey milt,
Good presentation on BDPA higher job initiative. It was not just very informative but very practical.

Hope see you soon.

From an Technical Recruiter:

Hi Milt,

I really enjoyed meeting you on Friday. I thought the meeting was very informative and I learned a lot from your talk. Your members seem enthusiastic about IT and finding new opportunities. I walked away with a lot of resumes and business cards.

I want to thank you for introducing me to the group and letting me talk about our positions. That was an unexpected treat.

I hope to see you again at more BDPA events.

More to come. Stay tuned...

What does it take to build a successful career in the IT Industry?

I’ve been tracking hot jobs in the IT Industry for over 30 years and to this day, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly the skills in highest demand change. The days of the mainframe are long gone, even web development skills are becoming out of fashion. SAP is hot. Peoplesoft is not. And web 2.0 development projects are ramping up so fast that the available pool of talent just can’t keep up with the market demand.

Would you like to hear more about what’s hot and what’s not?

Anyone interested in pursuing a long-term career in IT should attend the next BDPA Chicago Program Meeting on March 21st. I’ll be there to share important and timely research results that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. And I’ve invited several IT recruiters and hiring managers to share their perspectives too.

So if you’re looking for a job or just looking to stay abreast of the changes coming down the pike, come out to the BDPA Chicago Program Meeting on March 21st
