Howard leads a global organization delivering strategy, process and technology services to Merck Research Laboratories - Preclinical Drug Development and Global Licensing functions. His team designs and develops innovative technologies to speed new drug candidates through the early development lifecycle across the globe including the US, Canada, UK, France and Japan. His team also provides global licensing capabilities facilitating the development of strategic partnership with external partners.
Howard joined Merck & Co. Inc. in 1988 as a business analyst/software developer delivering business solutions to Sales and Marketing. His key accomplishments included arming our sales representatives with physician level analytical capability (first in the pharmaceutical industry) and driving data warehouse solutions in Marketing and the Direct to Consumer. In 1996 he joined the Merck Manufacturing Division as Director of Quality and Regulatory Information Systems. He was responsible for laboratory technologies in 32 plant sites across the globe. He delivered a global Laboratory Information Management System driving standard business practices and shared data. After six years in Manufacturing he joined Merck Research Laboratories as Senior Director, Preclinical Information Services in 2002.
He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Arcadia University.
