Write about what you love. Contributing Editors establish credibility by writing articles for the Blacks Gone Geek blog coinciding with their particular area of expertise. Contributing Editors keep our readers informed of news and items of interest to the African American IT Communitiy. This is an opportunity for you to implement your writing/editing skills, while further enriching your own knowledge of new and exciting developments in the Information Technology Industry.

 

Research Analysts are responsible for conducting research, crafting research reports, and ensuring that research projects are successfully conducted according to directions set out by the senior staff. The researcher develops the research objectives, designs and plans the study, manages research activities, and makes recommendations based on research results.

 

Leverage our tools and techniques to implement and optimize all elements of a healthy modern marketing program. Consultants are responsible for creating, measuring, analyzing and optimizing online marketing programs. Consultants utilize leading edge practices such as natural search optimization, link building, blogging, web analytics, lead conversion and analyzing our website traffic and online community forum subscribers and post activity.

 

Review websites or new site documentation for search engine friendly principles and translate marketing goals into successful key phrase and site strategies. Develop social media marketing strategies, develop blog strategies, and develop inbound linking strategies.

 

Manage social media marketing campaigns and social media implementation. Develop digital content strategies, including management across a variety of social media platforms and experience leveraging the online space to manage the relationship between businesses and their customers.

 

Analyze competitive sites.  Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive search engine optimization recommendations.  Maintain expertise on search engine news and trends. Analyze traffic and/or rankings reports.

 

Work on website content, write blog posts, , social bookmarking with DIGG, del.icio.us, stumpleupon etc., Twitter for business including creating daily Twitter posts aka “tweets”, maintain Facebook business pages, locate and become active in social media groups, stay current with new social media sites and platforms ,constant mindset of leveraging and branding in social networks, Youtube channel setup, social Bookmarking, flickr account creation, description optimization, tagging, geotagging, outsource and manage custom web site development, blog post moderation, forum moderation, attending social media events.

 

Our Web developers implements web pages, maintains content and oversees day-to-day management of the company website, and assures quality and filing integrity of web pages.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Responsible for the design of our web pages, including graphics, animation and functionality.

·         Help to develop web page infrastructure (e.g. hosting service provider, content management solution) and application related to pages with more advanced graphics and features.

·         Monitor web server and site technical performance.

 

 

The Who’s Hiring Team (WHT) helps community members gain access to job opportunities from corporations, consulting companies and executive recruiters. The Team uses “Word of Mouth” to find out and communicate Who’s Hiring. The Who’s Hiring Team offers services to assist job seekers in their job search endeavors by providing career counseling, job search strategies, interviewing tips, coaching and moral support.


To be effective in this highly visible role, team members should possess basic managerial skills as well as great technical, communication, organization and presentation skills. Team members need to be able to conduct evaluations in order to provide critical feedback and to assess the employability of job seekers.

Innovation Managers coordinate efforts to dentify and develop new business ideas.  This is an opportunity to learn how to take a business idea from vision to reality. As a key ideation steward, this position will interact closely with the customer base to develop potential new products and service offerings. The Innovation Manager creates, develops and delivers strategic innovation projects and maintains an innovation project portfolio. This position is also responsible for the benchmarking and communication of best-practices for innovative thinking and as well as establishing Communities of Practice, Grass Roots Innovation Teams (GRIT), and Informal cross-organizational networks.

 

A project manager is the person who has the overall responsibility for the successful planning and execution of a project. The ability to delegate tasks and accomplish objectives through other people is a necessary project management skill. Our Project Managers use industry standard tools and techniques to lead challenging initiatives from beginning to end. They know how to get things done.  Volunteering as a project manager is a good way to earn PDU credits that can be used to qualify for the PMI PMP certification.

 

Social Media Consultants engage followers and socialize with them by responding to comments that mention Blacks Gone Geek (e.g. #blacksgonegeek on Twitter), and some will even try and cheer up a follower who has commented about a bad day. Companies that successfully use Twitter and other social networking sites to engage customers know that hawking products through the site will turn off customers, so social media consultants are all about socializing and finding solutions.

 

This volunteer has a primary responsibility of tweeting and posting content on Facebook, Groupsite.com, LinkedIn and Yahoogroups too. Its a great way to learn about exciting new job opportunities and build your social networking skills.

This is a volunteer opportunity for an MBA or BSA type who wants to get some business planning experience under their belt by analyzing existing business problems and developing plans for improvement. I’m looking for somebody to assess and document business models, develop high level business plans and business development strategies.

 

With this assignment you will learn how to look at business ideas in a different way. You will analyze the organization's strategic business needs and work with me to flush out business ideas and recommend business and technical solutions. You will learn how to clearly and succinctly articulate a business idea in such a way that executives can make an investment decision on the spot. This is not the traditional assignment but requires creativity, “out of the box” thinking and an innovative mindset.
